my attempts at googling to find out if pantry moths will eat my fermentation was unsuccessful but i did learn adults eat juice and that you can deter them by crushed bay leaves in cheesecloth.

so anyway i tied amulets of bay leaves with baker’s twine to my fermentations. here is apple cider (top) and sourdough starter (bottom), wish me luck.

plz advise

behold, the biggest thing i have ever successfully grown from seed. it is a squash plant. i’m starting to suspect that most of my sprouts are actually weeds, which is a bummer because i successfully started a lot of the same kinds of plants indoors and then gave em away cause i thought they sprouted, but i am starting more even though i’m kind of worried it’s a little late??? i still have a ton of tomato plants because i keep acquiring tomato plants but wish me luck on starting more, hope it is not too late agh

a lot of punx diy food stuff is really just advanced mom stuff like gardening and fancy from-scratch cooking, but i’m pretty sure most of the punx into this stuff have probably alienated the moms in their lives by talking too much about anarchoprimitivism

but anyway moms are great, my mom is giving me some fennel from her garden to dye with and some roses to make rose water/syrup with, and also she grows even more herbs than that if i need them, and daniel’s mom is giving me a couple of tomato plants, and i got mint plants from marie’s mom. olivia’s mom is also great and might contribute to my zine, and is very supportive in the chicken project. i am going to bring moms heirloom tomatoes too, and they will love me because moms love tomatoes.

this is from “an herbal medicine-making primer” (link to free pdf!) it’s pretty silly as almost everything on zinelibrary.info is—like the thesis is basically “learn to heal yourself with herbs because you will totally need it in the inevitable anarchist-primitivist revolution” which, ??, but actually the rest of the zine is simple adaptable instructions for how to make like syrups and salves and tinctures, etc etc

anyway the way it’s written is really appealing to me, especially this passage. it’s like the best recipe i’ve ever seen. “here’s a bunch of options if this happens, or if this happens, or if this” it’s like poetry
